The @applelandranch Net Zero Renovation was part of the ‘Towards Net Zero’ Program facilitated by the Canadian Home Builder’s Association. It benefitted from enhanced project planning, and incentives for Design, Energy Audits, Energy Advisors and an integrated design process. Net Zero Homes are designed to be more efficient than code built homes, and generate as much energy on site as they consume. In addition to being high performance, and energy efficient, the CHBA defines them as being ‘the ultimate in home comfort.’
The Apple Land Ranch project is one of the first 100 Net Zero home renovations in Canada.
We added approximately 800 Square Feet to the homes footprint, allowing for a larger communal space, kitchen and bedrooms, while keeping all essential rooms on the main level. Windows and doors were expanded to permit plenty of natural light, including reframing the roof to incorporate a series of clerestory windows.
